Season & Finale Overwhelming Success at WPMS


West Plains, MO. (Sept. 27, 2008) The final event of the 2008 season was blessed with fair skies, warm weather, a good crowd and a great car count along with a full night of great racing. The Glenn's Truck Service sponsored event was dedicated to an Autism Awareness theme as Glenn and Heather Duke provided information, giveaways, doorprizes & gifts all in an effort to inform the public of a cause very near and dear to their hearts.

In the 2nd Annual Topless IMCA Modified feature Bill Adams of West Plains took all the top honors of the evening along with an extra $300 bonus presented by Glenn Duke. Coming in second was Shawn Walsh of Ash Flat, followed by Brandon Ball of West Plains, Tony Anglin of Walnut Ridge, AR, Joey Smith of Pomona, Jason Brigman of West Plains, Rustin Miller of Houston, Lonnie Judd, Brian Judd, and Carl Murphy, all of Caulfield.

Balance of the Modified field included: Matt Barry of West Plains, Marlin Shehorn of Russellville, AR, Tony Carnal of Cabool, Jerry Croney of West Plains, Austin Smith of Mammoth Spring, Kanyan Methvin of Yellville, AR, Calvin Tribble of West Plains, Daryl Hay of Doniphan, Monty Ragsdale of Mammoth Spring, Ted Simpson of Alton, Danny Peterson and Denny Dennison, both of West Plains, Chris Junkersfeld of Pocahontas, AR, and Fred Scarbrough of Koshkonong.

Carmon Vincent of Moody, won the Super Stock feature followed by Stan Ellison of West Plains, Tony Anglin of Walnut Ridge, Kevin Collins of West Plains, Jeff North of Rogersville, Will Love of Batesville, AR, Bruce Sutterfield of Bono, AR, Darren Fox of Mtn. Grove, Bill Dixon of Thayer, Herman Kelly of Birch Tree, Tyson Troutman of Houston, Dave Wallace of Theodosia, Clint Seamans of Imboden, AR, Derald Kelly and Dee Kelly, both of Birch Tree.

Dexter Frost of West Plains, topped 20 other Hobby Stock drivers for the winner's honors this week. Coming in second was Wayne Degase of Squires, followed by Korey Whitelock of Alton, Chuck Russell, Stan Ellison, Jessie Shearin, David Medlock, and Bobby Bryant, all of West Plains, Richard Smith of Williford, AR, Tim Hancock of Mtn. Grove, Dean Smith of Mammoth Spring, Larry Duke and Randy Rader, both of West Plains, Scott Todd of Hardy, Glenn Duke and Chris Piper, both of West Plains, Rick Cooper of Thornfield, Brent Wood of Sturkie, AR, Billy Collins of Pomona, and Mike Elliott of Ellsinore, rounding out the field.

In the Cruiser feature Bobby Skinner of Moody, took the win, followed by Mark Doiron and Bill Harden, both of West Plains, Tyler Newcom of Hardy, Clifford Collins, II, John Zuchowski, and Clifford Collins, all of West Plains, Sissy Ratliff-Seamans, of Imboden, Rhonda Gunter and Corey Lambert, both of West Plains, Les Snyder and Kalvin Kelly, both of Birch Tree.

Austin White of Willow Spring, won the Glenn's Truck Service sponsored Youth Hobby Stock feature followed by Kyle Duke of West Plains, A.J. Smith of Mammoth Spring, Ben Piper of West Plains, Chase Williams of Caulfield, Skyler Cochran and Dakota Frost, both of West Plains.

In the 4th Annual Modified Mechanic's Race sponsored by Calvin Tribble's West Plains Recycling Don Marsh of West Plains won, followed by Brent Martin of West Plains, Ron Shehorn of Alton, Kermit Collins of West Plains and Zac Olson of Cabool, rounding out the top five.

Balance of the mechanic's field included: Tim Heath, Thomas Ellison, Kermit Collins, Ben Piper and John Hale all of West Plains, Kyle Miller of Houston, Paula Smith and Mike Tilley of Mammoth Spring, Whitney Nunally of Black Rock, Shawn Batterton of Viola, AR, and Bill Hay of Doniphan.

In the Super Hobby Cruiser Mechanic's Race the winner was Scott North of Willow Springs, with Rowdy Trivitt of Williford, taking second followed by Weldon Newcom of Hardy. Balance of the lineup included Garry Love of Melbourne, AR,Bradley Vincent of Moody, Harry Apel, Guy Hollingshad, Ricky Taber, Gayla Zuchowski, Andy Harden, Heidi Rader, and Bernie Zuchowski, all of West Plains, Keith Whitelock of Alton, Larry Ratliff and Kevin Burton, both of Hardy, J.D. Rutledge and Jeff Boyer, both of Birch Tree.

In the make up IMCA Modfied feature from the September 13, Air-Evac event, Carl Murphy of Caulfield, took the win followed by Austin Smith of Mammoth Spring, Rustin Miller of Houston, Chris Piper, Bill Adams, and Brandon Ball, all of West Plains, Lonnie Evans of Houston, Shawn Walsh of Ash Flat, Scott Crigler of Alton, and Calvin Tribble of West Plains, rounded out the top ten.

The Super Stock make up feature from the same Air-Evac event, was won by Stan Ellison of West Plains, followed by Kevin Collins of West Plains, Jeff North of Rogersville, Dee Kelly and Herman Kelly, both of Birch Tree, Will Love of Batesville, Darren Fox of Mtn. Grove, Andy Collins of West Plains, Shawn Doan of Pocahontas, Ar, Chris Darnell of Springfield, and Burl Woods of Republic, MO.

The only event left on the 2008 schedule will be the 16th Annual Awards Night Banquet. Tentative date is set for Saturday, November 15. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
